Out of Sight, Out of Time by Ally Carter

Out of Sight, Out of Time is the 5th book in the Gallagher Girls series. Gallagher Academy is, on the outside, a posh school for rich, spoilt girls. However, the girls who go there know differently. It is actually a school for raising spies. Cammie, a.k.a. the Chameleon because she blends in so well, wakes up in a nun convent, half way across the globe. She has absolutely no memory of getting there or the past couple months. The book is about her journey trying to find out who she is after this experience and where she was for the period of time.

The book was well written. However, I hadn't read the previous book for a couple months, so I was super confused. One of the not-so-good things about this series is the complicated plot line. It has people hunting others down over 1 SMALL DETAIL in the first book. Then, it doesn't bother to go back and explain or quote this book, but instead expects readers to remember this. Ally Carter is a great writer though, and does a great job of pulling plots together with romance, action and a bit of drama too.

Catching Fire

I am currently reading Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins. I am about halfway through the book and so far it is pretty slow. I have been told by numerous friends that this book is the best in the series, but that the beginning is slow. For example, the last book seemed to go a lot quicker with getting to the actual games and such. The reason I think Catching Fire is slower now is because they need to show how powerful the capital is compared to the districts and how they are on the edge of a revolt. I would highly recommend this series to any reader of any skill.

The Assist

I read The Assist by Neil Swidey over spring break. The Assist is about a high school basketball team in  Boston and the coach of the team Jack O'Brian. The coach of this team helps out his players get through their senior year at school. He takes them on field trips to colleges that would give them what they want and a good education. He goes to great lengths to make sure that his players stay out of trouble and in school. The players each have their own harsh story about growing up in the low end of town. The coach eventually leads the team to the championship and this is were things get all tense. Some players start to have family issues and the coach tries his best to resolve these conflicts. If you would like to know what happens I advise you to read this book it is a really good read.
 

Holes by Louis Sachar

The Book, Holes, is about a boy named Stanley Yelnats who is sent to Camp Green Lake for for something his grandfather did, not him. Camp Green Lake is a camp for kids who have comminted bad crimes, and for punishment they digs holes. He meets many people there, and unfolds many mistories. It is really interesting how everything comes together in the end, and seeing the adventures they go through through out the book. It's a quick read, but may get a little slow at times. I really recommend it if you are looking for a good book with adventure, but a quick and easy one as well. 

Impossible

I just started Impossible, by Nancy Werlin.
So far, the book has an interesting premise and is fairly realistic. It's about a 17 year old girl named Lucy. The women in her family are supposedly under a curse so that whenever they have their first child they will go completely insane after he or she is born. Lucy's mother, Miranda, was obviously deemed unfit to raise a child after Lucy was born, so Lucy was sent to live with her foster parents, Leo and Soledad. When Lucy finds out about the curse she wants to break it ASAP. In order for her to do that she has to complete 3 tasks. Unfortunately, I'm not far enough in the book to know what they are, but I'll get back to that later.
The writing of the book is realistic, but less sophisticated and eloquent than some books I've read, which is disappointing. I'd still recommend this book to anyone though!

Bumped

Bumped, by Megan McCafferty, is a post- apocalyptic book about what would happen if the entire human race over the age of 18 became infertile due to a virus, and teenagers were being payed to get pregnant.
Melody and Harmony, twins who were separated at birth, end up meeting. They each knew the other was alive, but they have come from very different households. Harmony lives on "Goodside," where everyone is extremely religious and grows up in the churches. Melody is from "Otherside," where society functions much more like it does in our society now. Melody is working with an agency that pays girls to serve as surrogates for couples who need babies. Melody has never gotten pregnant or even wanted to, but when her agency matches her with the most famous and important "stud" on the market, named Jondoe, Melody may have to get pregnant to save her career.
This book, while having an interesting idea and plot, was not as good as I had hoped. The writing was only so-so, in my opinion and the characters were poorly developed. The good thing about this book, though, was that it really made me question and wonder how our society would function if something like that happened and everyone over 18 became infertile. What do you think?

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time

This book is by far one of my favorites. I started reading it, and 5 minutes in, I was on Chapter 29! I'm not that fast of a reader, but it turns out the book's chapters are in prime numbers. This sort of sets the tone for the rest of the book. It is through the view of a 15 year old autistic British boy.
The author, Mark Haddon, never explicitly says this, but the thought process of the boy shows this. The book starts out as the boy trying to solve the murder case of Wellington, a neighbours dog. His dad doesn't want him investigating this, and is very secretive. His mom died of a 'heart attack' a couple years ago, and him and his dad don't get along well. There are lots of surprises in this book, so I don't want to spoil it!
