13 Reasons Why

A book I’ve read recently has been “13 Reasons Why” by Jay Asher. It was a book about a girl who commits suicide, but before doing so, she makes 13 tapes. Each tape is about a different reason why she killed herself. She gives them to one person with a list of names and addresses of the people she wants to listen to the tapes. It follows the story of one boy in particular listening to the tapes. The main conflict of the story is character vs. self, because he is constantly worrying that he is the reason she killed herself. The writing was really good, that I started to get worried with him about listening to the tapes. I really liked this book, but it was kind of freaky. It got you scared about what people did to her to want to make her kill herself. It also was sad that people realized she was sad and upset but they didn’t do anything to help her. A couple times in the book the girl would start talking to someone that she thought could help, but the never did. Overall though, I really liked the book, and I would like to read it again eventually.
