The Scorch Trials
Over the last few weeks, I have been reading, The Scorch Trials, by James Dashner. It is the sequel to one of my favorite books, The Maze Runner. If you haven’t read the maze runner yet, I would highly suggest you do, It is a story about some kids living in a maze, who’s only goal is to escape, and find out if there is a world outside the maze. So far, The Scorch Trials lives up to the high expectations that the book set. The storytelling is really great, the characters seem to come to life (no matter how cheesy and clichéd that sounds), you can really envision the whole scenario. The creepy scenes seem to keep you on the edge of your seat and the action sequences occur often and are in no way repetitive. Anyways, I can’t really say too much about the plot, without revealing the ending of the first book, but I can say that the Gladers wake up in the safe house to find some shocking things have occurred. I would say that this sequel is just as good (so far) as the first book, and I would definitely recommend you go pick yourself up a copy soon.

Jack, I started The Maze Runner a couple of months ago and quickly abandoned it due to the lack of action. Do you suggest I try it again? I am a reader who enjoys action and I don't tend to go for the slower moving stories. It seems like I may have missed out because from your post, the second book seems action packed. Does the first book eventually speed up? If it does, I think you will have convinced me to give it a second try.
