Killing Lincoln
Over spring break, I read Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Rielly. This was a very fast paced action type book about the final 10 days of the life of former President Lincoln. The book didn't just cover Lincoln though, but rather covered Booth and his gang, Ulysses S. Grant and a few other important government figures like Jackson, especially if they were the target of an attempted killing by the Booth gang. About the first half of the book covers the final days of the war, and Bill O'Rielly does a very good job of giving us innumerable details about the armies of Ulysses S. Grant and Robert E. Lee. The second half gives us a bit of insight into why Booth wanted to kill the President, which was basically because he didn't like him in the first place and because he wanted to keep slavery going. Overall, this was a very good action packed book which I really enjoyed and would recommend to anyone interested in history or just someone who wants a good fast paced read.
