Father Mother God
This is a very interesting book about a Wayzata Family who are christian scientists. Christian scientists believe in when they get sick they can't take medicine, because they believe that if they pray enough god will help them get better. The main character Lucia, doesn't really understand her families religious beliefs. There are no chapters in this book, it just jumps from one event in Lucia's life to the next. When she gets sick her mother sends her to her grandma's house and she thinks that the applesauce at her house tastes weird, but really her grandmother gives her asprin in the applesauce. Another time when Lucia gets chicken pox, she doesn't take any medicine, she just has to stay home until they are gone. She wonders why she can't because it will help her, so she just goes with what her family believes. Also when she got her ears pierced by her uncle Jack, a plastic surgeon, he told her to put some rubbing alchohol on her ears when she wakes up, after lunch, and when she goes to bed. But she wasn't sure if she was allowed to use rubbing alchohol, so she was very nervouse about her ears getting infected.
