The Hunger Games

I am currently reading The Hunger Games written by Suzanne Collins. The Hunger Games is a battle that happens once a year between 24 tributes. These tributes are kids between the ages of 12 and 18, in this country there are 12 districts and 2 tributes from each district is entered, 1 boy and 1 girl, and they fight to the death. The Hunger Games tells about a tribute’s story from district 12. Her name is Katnis. Her father died in a explosion in a mine. After her mother fell into a deep depression and Katnis was left to take care of her younger sister Prim. This year for the Hunger Games, Prim was chosen for the girl tribute. Katnis, knowing that if Prim goes she will die, volunteers for the position. The boy tributes name is Peeta, he is the bakers son. He once gave a loaf a bread to Katnis when they were younger because Katnises family is very poor and it is hard for them to get food. The games are held at the Capitol and they soon are the favorite tributes. I discovered as the book went on that they had many strengths as well, Katnis was a very good hunter because that is how she provided food for her family after her father died. Peeta was very strong, because he always helped is father at the bakery, lifting big bags of flour and loafs of bread. The book is very exciting to read because you never know how something is going to turn out. I cant wait to see how the Games go because only 1 person servives.
