The Help
I just finished The Help by Kathryn Stockett. All I have to say is wow. What an amazing book, I am so happy I chose to read this book. Personally I think Ms. Stockett did a fantastic job with capturing the essence of what it was like to be an African American woman and A white woman back during the 1950's. She did a great job of using southern slang and her southern flares to different words just made the book seem more realistic. I really liked how in the leading up to the last part of the book it started to feeling like it was reaching a resolution but instead it picked right back up into another climax. One of my favorite relationships to follow was between Stuart and Ms. Skeeter. Everything about that relationship just was so realistic from the horrible first date, to the awkwardly turned down wedding proposal. In this book there are many different narrators but they each seem to have a problem with what society thinks of them. All the white women just want the rest of the ladies at the country club to approve of them. The African American women just want to be accepted by the white women. Overall I absolutely loved this book and I recommend it to everyone!
