I gave in and decided to start reading the beloved Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. I generally am not the type of person that likes to read books that have become a phenomenon that everyone is in love with. I especially don’t like books that have teams like “Team Peeta”, “Team Gale” or “Team Jacob”, “Team Edward”. I never read Twilight or Harry Potter because I don’t like to follow the crowd and read the books that EVERYONE is reading. I really liked how she used so much figurative language to make it seem so realistic. All of the scenes seemed like you could almost feel all the emotions. Probably the most heart-wrenching moment in the whole book was when Rue died. I am one person who never cries or gets upset over things in real life, so having something make me almost cry that wasn’t real meant that it was written really well. It was written so well with so many powerful descriptions. I also got to see the movie and I was surprised they left out so many details about important things. One thing I was shocked about is how Katniss got the Mocking Jay pin. In the book the mayor’s daughter gave her the pin, but in the movie she got the pin at like a flea-market type place. Even though there were so many differences I still liked both of them a lot but I would have to say I liked the book more then the movie. In all, I think that you should read this book. Don’t judge the book like I did just read it no matter who you are or what you heard because I truly think anyone will enjoy it.

Hunger Games By Suzanne Collins

Although I enjoyed the Harry Potter movies, I also did not follow the popular demand to read the novels. I have heard that the Hunger Games series is an excellent choice to read, you have now reaffirmed this. It takes a powerful author to emotionally affect the reader. It sounds like Suzanne Collins is this type of author. What is interesting is that I tend to find that when I have read a book and then saw the movie, I usually enjoyed the book better than the movie. This may be due to the reader imagining the characters and events they way they would want to see them, however producers don't always capture everyone's imaginations.
