Moneyball

The rest of the story is about how a low market team could win with all of their all-star players gone. Billy Beane is now the GM of the Oakland A's and trying to win. The A's start out very cold out of the gate, and some people wonder when Billy Beane will be fired. But they start making the right moves and catch fire. In the process of this they win 20 games in a row, and MLB record. They make it to the Conference finals where they are eliminated by the Minnesota Twins. In the offseason Billy Beane is offered millions of dollars which he turns down because winning is not everything. The famous final quote is “Billy Beane is still looking for that last win.” Billy Beane’s daughter sings “you’re such a loser, Dad” repeatedly while the quote plays.

  1. It sounds like an interesting story to me. Isn't this book also a movie? I remember someone telling me about it. Thanks for sharing, Ryan.

  2. It sounds like a great story. In response to Nicklaus J's comment, yes I believe it is a movie and is in theaters now. I think it's amazing how a team with so many of their players gone could win such a big game. Thanks Ryan!
